Biography
Dr. Katharina Bauer


Katharina Bauer is Associate Professor at the Erasmus School of Philosophy of Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She does research on moral agency and ethical ideals in the context of societal, technological, and ecological challenges.

In her latest projects she investigates normative foundations of (moral) resilience and develops an experience-based ethics of dignity in the context of migration ('Dignity in Place', NWO). She is a member of the multidisciplinary Convergence Flagship 'Integrative Neuromedicine' (Erasmus University, Erasmus MC, TU Delft), and supervisor in a European doctoral network on technical and societal challenges of metastatic cancer (Home - Mac4me).

Katharina Bauer was Visiting Researcher at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Goethe Universität Frankfurt a.M. as a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and Visiting Professor at Freie Universität Berlin. She is a member of the national ethics committee at the Dutch Centre for Ethics and Health ('Centrum voor Ethiek en Gezondheid').
